Starting his musical journey at the age of 12, he has been dedicated to expanding his repertoire and skills, learning from renowned musicians like Steve Ramsdell, John Abercrombie, and Fareed Haque.
Having attended jazz workshops at Benedictine University and taken lessons in both jazz and classical guitar, Corey has honed his skills in different genres and styles. His passion for solo guitar music has inspired him to dedicate nearly a decade to performing a series of seasonal concerts, with the aim of introducing the public to a diverse range of solo guitar compositions from around the world.
Corey has performed at a wide range of venues and events, from private functions like wedding ceremonies to public and private events at Tannin’s Wine in Elmhurst, wineries throughout Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay area, Elmhurst Art Museum, and various nightclubs. His involvement in Classical Revolution-Chicago has showcased his commitment with a collaboration of classical musicians to help make classical chamber music more accessible to the public.
With a wealth of experience in church worship music ministry teams over the last 20 years, Corey has a deep understanding of contemporary styles and worship music. His strong background in music theory allows him to be a well-rounded teacher, capable of guiding students through classical guitar, jazz, R&B, pop, and various contemporary styles. Corey employs a seamless teaching approach that utilizes sight-reading as a foundation to effectively integrate rudiments such as rhythm, melody, and technique. This approach allows him to better tailor lessons to the individual needs and interests of his students, ensuring a personalized and engaging learning experience.
